Anche quest’anno si sono tenuti i Campionati dell’Imprenditorialità organizzati da Junior Achievement Italia: all’interno della manifestazione, ManpowerGroup attribuisce l’award Ready for Work al team di studenti in gara capace di presentare un’idea o un’innovazione pronta per il mercato del lavoro.
La premiazione della competizione italiana si è svolta lo scorso 6 giugno, mentre il 13 luglio, a Istanbul, abbiamo assistito al concorso europeo Gen-E (organizzato da Junior Achievement Europe e speculare ai Campionati dell’Imprenditorialità) che ha riunito più di 800 giovani imprenditori, insegnanti, partner commerciali e politici europei per un’impressionante vetrina di idee imprenditoriali e di spirito di innovazione. Entrambe le manifestazioni sono focalizzate sulla promozione dell’inizio delle carriere delle nuove generazioni, un modo per stimolare il miglioramento delle competenze e la condivisione di conoscenze ed esperienze.
La competizione italiana
Al pari dei precedenti, i Campionati dell’Imprenditorialità 2023 si sono dimostrati una palestra stimolante per tutti i partecipanti, che hanno così avuto l’occasione di testare sul campo le proprie capacità e la propria visione. Anna Gionfriddo, Amministratrice Delegata di ManpowerGroup Italia, ha consegnato il Ready for Work Award al team Phyto Jonio – tre studentesse dell’Istituto Professionale Statale Francesca Saverio Cabrini di Taranto che hanno creato prodotti alimentari a partire da microalghe. Lavoro di squadra, capacità tecniche sviluppate nei laboratori della scuola, attenzione all’ambiente e all’ecosostenibilità – in piena ottica ESG – e capacità di comunicazione digitale sono solo alcune delle competenze acquisite dal team pugliese, risultato poi vincitore. Il premio consiste in un percorso Manpower – Young Talent in Action – per l’orientamento, in vista del loro ingresso nel mercato del lavoro.
In merito all’iniziativa, l’AD Gionfriddo si è così espressa: «Anche in questo caso, siamo orgogliosamente partner di Junior Achievement, che ha accompagnato quattromila giovani in tutta Italia nel lavoro sui propri progetti imprenditoriali e ha accolto i 180 finalisti per presentare la loro idea alla giuria».
L’importanza della manifestazione
Il messaggio principale dell’evento è quello del crescere insieme, dando vita a un’idea potenzialmente rivoluzionaria con la squadra giusta, tramite un percorso di formazione in cui ogni membro del team contribuisce all’esecuzione del progetto. Come nel caso di An Open Book – il team vincitore del premio Ready for Work di ManpowerGroup nell’edizione europea: un gruppo di giovani che ha preso parte alla competizione con l’obiettivo di innovare le modalità di apprendimento e di lettura, in particolare per le persone con disabilità o difficoltà agli arti, che rendono quindi difficile sorreggere un libro. Dare vita a un progetto richiede conoscenze commerciali, dedizione e volontà di migliorare giorno dopo giorno. Si tratta, però, anche di selezionare le persone ideali per svolgere ogni compito e crescere insieme. Tutti questi fattori sembrano quindi essersi combinati nell’esperienza della squadra vincitrice, che ha sviluppato la propria proposta a partire da una semplice osservazione: tenere in mano un libro, per la lettura o lo studio, può risultare a tratti difficile e pesante. An Open Book ha allora deciso di impiegare il legno inutilizzato per creare un agile strumento a forma di diamante in grado di reggere i libri durante la lettura: il Bookmate. Un prodotto che migliora le condizioni di lettura e che contribuisce – oltre all’inclusione – anche alla sfida della sostenibilità, riducendo il volume dei rifiuti.
Al momento della consegna dell’award, i vincitori hanno commentato: «Abbiamo cercato di rendere il momento della lettura più facile e confortevole, sperando così che in molti tornino a riaprire i libri, ritrovando l’interesse per questo passatempo. Il nostro obiettivo è anche quello di avere un impatto positivo sulle persone anziane e su quelle che hanno difficoltà a tenere in mano un libro a causa di condizioni come l’artrite o i reumatismi, permettendo loro di continuare a godersi un buon libro». Con il Bookmate è infatti possibile ottenere una presa migliore, rendendo più comoda la lettura in luoghi, come la spiaggia, la metropolitana, il treno o anche mentre si è a casa sdraiati sul divano. An Open Book si è distinto anche per la scelta fatta in termini di materiali: utilizzando solo legno di alta qualità, altrimenti scartato o considerato un rifiuto, il team si è dimostrato attento e sensibile alla tematica ambientale, realizzando un oggetto in grado di limitare emissioni atmosferiche.
Chiamati a raccontare la loro avventura, i quattro studenti olandesi hanno dichiarato: «Partecipare a questa competizione è stata un’opportunità straordinaria, non solo perché abbiamo avuto modo di imparare da tutte le start-up di talento provenienti da altri Paesi e qui presenti, ma abbiamo conosciuto personalmente tutti i partecipanti». Connessioni, comunanza, partecipazione: Ready for Work, ma soprattutto i momenti che lo precedono, significa tutto questo. Ideare un progetto implica infatti immaginare un concetto, capire come tradurlo praticamente e avvicinarsi al risultato finale, collaborando quotidianamente con il proprio team: skills che il mondo del lavoro – quello di oggi, soprattutto, in continua evoluzione – richiede a tutti i professionisti e che la competizione in questione riproduce per giovani studenti.

Once again this year, the Entrepreneurship Championships organised by Junior Achievement Italy were held: as part of the event, ManpowerGroup presented the Ready for Work award to the competing team of students capable of presenting an idea or innovation ready for the job market. The awards ceremony of the Italian competition took place on 6 June, while on 13 July, in Istanbul, we attended the European Gen-E competition (organised by Junior Achievement Europe and mirroring the Entrepreneurship Championships) that brought together more than 800 young European entrepreneurs, teachers, business partners and politicians for an impressive showcase of business ideas and the spirit of innovation. Both events focus on promoting the start of careers for the younger generation, a way to promote the improvement of skills and the sharing of knowledge and experience.
The Italian competition
Like its predecessors, the 2023 Entrepreneurship Championships proved to be a stimulating training ground for all participants, who had the opportunity to field test their skills and vision. Anna Gionfriddo, Managing Director of ManpowerGroup Italy, presented the Ready for Work Award to the Phyto Jonio team – three students from the Istituto Professionale Statale Francesca Saverio Cabrini in Taranto, who created food products from microalgae. Teamwork, technical skills developed in the school’s laboratories, attention to the environment and eco-sustainability – in full ESG perspective – and digital communication skills are just some of the skills acquired by the winning team from Puglia. The award consists of a Manpower program –Young Talent in Action – for orientation, looking forward at their entry into the job market.
CEO Gionfriddo had this to say about the initiative: «Once again, we are proud partners of Junior Achievement, which accompanied four thousand young people throughout Italy in working on their entrepreneurial projects and welcomed the 180 finalists to present their idea to the jury».
The importance of the event
The main message of the event is about growing together, bringing a potentially revolutionary idea to life with the right team, through a training course in which each team member contributes to the execution of the project. As in the case of An Open Book – the winning team of the ManpowerGroup Ready for Work award in the European edition: a group of young people who took part in the competition with the aim of innovating the way we learn and read, particularly for people with disabilities or limb difficulties that make difficult to hold a book. Bringing a project to life requires business knowledge, dedication and a willingness to improve day by day. However, it is also about selecting the ideal people to perform each task and grow together. All these factors seem to have combined in the experience of the winning team, which developed its proposal from a simple observation: holding a book, for reading or studying, can be difficult and burdensome at times. An Open Book then decided to employ unused wood to create a nimble, diamond-shaped instrument capable of holding books while reading: the Bookmate. A product that improves reading conditions and contributes, besides inclusion, to the challenge of sustainability by reducing the volume of waste.
Upon receiving the award, the winners commented: «We have tried to make the moment of reading easier and more comfortable, hoping that many will return to books, regaining interest in this pastime. It’s also been our goal to have a positive impact on the elderly and those who have difficulty holding a book due to conditions such as arthritis or rheumatism, allowing them to continue to enjoy a good book». With the Bookmate it is possible to get a better grip, making reading more comfortable in places like the beach, the underground, the train or even while lying at home on the sofa. An Open Book also stood out for the choice made in terms of materials: by using only high-quality wood, otherwise discarded or considered waste, the team proved to be environmentally aware and sensitive, producing an object that limits atmospheric emissions.
When asked about their adventure, the four Dutch students said: «Participating in this competition was an amazing opportunity, not only because we were able to learn from all the talented start-ups from other countries that were present here, but we got to know all the participants personally». Connections, commonality, participation: Ready for Work, but especially the moments leading up to it, means all this. In fact, conceiving a project implies imagining a concept, understanding how to translate it practically and approaching the final result by collaborating with one’s team on a daily basis: skills that the world of work – in today’s ever-changing world, above all – demands of all professionals and that the competition in question reproduces for young students.
